Singles Keeping It Real
Many single Christians prefer to avoid the topic of sexual purity because they are bound by guilt about past sins, or because they do not want to deal with current sexual temptations and sin in their lives. But God takes purity very seriously and so must we.

As single Christians, we need to remind ourselves daily that so as to honor, follow, love and obey Christ, we cannot give in to the desires of the flesh like sexual lusts. 2 Corinthian 6:18-20 says. “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body?

I Thessalonians 4:3 tells’ us to learn to control our mind and body. “It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life?

To renew our minds we need to be aware of our thoughts, what we listen to and watch on TV. I have found that it’s easy to rationalize what we watch and listen to. However we should not forget that Jesus values a pure mind and heart.
Philippians 4:8-9 says “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you?

We are not to allow thoughts of sexual immorality in our minds but chose to replace them with honorable, clean and pure thoughts. Being sexual is not sinful; God created sex to be a beautiful expression of love between a man and a woman who are joined in marriage.

Remember that Jesus is the only person who can give you complete fulfillment. Knowing Him is what makes you whole and that goes for everyone whether married or single. But if you commit your life to Him and walk in obedience, He will bless you with wonderful relationships built on godly principles that will nourish and strengthen you all the days of your life (Colossians 2:9-10)
